Comprehensive Care Center

Living with a diagnosis of HIV or AIDS requires regular and supervised care and treatment. The Lancaster General Comprehensive Care Center offers a team of healthcare professionals who provide care for patients living with an HIV or AIDS diagnosis. The staff has extensive experience and understands the unique challenges of caring for people with HIV. Started in 1997, the Center remains committed to its mission of providing HIV-specific specialty care as well as primary care for adults who are now living longterm with this chronic disease. Services provided by the Center include:

  • Medical treatment of HIV and AIDS using all available therapies, as well as experimental therapies approved for select patients enrolled in clinical trials
  • Education on antiviral medications, HIV-related blood tests, and nutrition
  • Monitoring of all patients with CD4 + (T-cell count) and viral load testing
  • Primary medical care
  • Referrals for specialty medical care (including but not limited to obstetrics, gynecology,  dermatology, gastroenterology)
  • HIV counseling and testing

The social worker can also assist with referrals for:

  • Obtaining medical insurance and prescription drug coverage
  • Drug and alcohol counseling
  • Mental health services
  • Nutritional counseling
  • Community agencies that provide services for
Free Testing
Free HIV testing is available Tuesdays from 1-5 p.m. at 554 N. Duke St., 3rd floor, Lancaster (across the street from Lancaster General Hospital). Testing is free and confidential and results are available in 20 minutes. No appointment is needed. For more information, please call 544-4943.
Emergencies
Please call 911 for a life-threatening emergency. For other non-critical medical emergencies, please call 544-4940. A physician is always on-call.

Appointments
Patients are seen by appointment only. The Center is generally unable to accommodate walk-in patients. Patients should schedule their next appointment before leaving the Center or by calling 544-4943 or extension 76601. Patients can be seen for emergency or “sick visits,” but these appointments may not be
with their regular physician.

Monday - Friday: 8 am - 4:30pm

Prescriptions & Referrals
Please allow 24 hours for all prescription refills.
Please allow 72 hours for all physician referrals.

Staff
The Center’s physicians are Family Medicine Specialists who have a special interest and extensive experience in the care of patients with HIV/AIDS. They also serve as the primary care physician for non-HIV/AIDS patients including family members and partners of patients with HIV/AIDS.

Drs. Kirchner, Coco and Fife are certified HIV Specialists by the American Academy of HIV Medicine & by the American Board of Family Practice. Lyn Mohn is certified in AIDS Care by the American Association of Nurses.

The Center is funded by the Health Resources Administration (HRSA), HIV/AIDS Bureau, Department of Health & Human Services, Rockville, MD.
