Center for Breast Health Recognized for Excellence

Monday, October 26, 2009

Lancaster General Health’s Suzanne H. Arnold Center for Breast Health has been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The center is located at the LG Health Suburban Outpatient Pavilion, 2104 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster.

By awarding facilities the status of a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, the ACR recognizes breast imaging centers earning accreditation in all of the College’s voluntary, breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.

The breast imaging services at the Suzanne H. Arnold Center are fully accredited in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy. Peer-review evaluations, conducted in each breast imaging modality by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field, have determined the center has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs.

Lancaster General Health reminds the community that successful treatment of breast cancer begins with prevention and early diagnosis. Digital mammography, providing greater clarity and more precise diagnosis, is available at the Suzanne H. Arnold Center and five other LG Health outpatient locations. To schedule a digital mammogram, call 717-544-5941.
