Patients coming to the Lancaster General Orthopedic Center are treated by a unified team of orthopedic specialists using leading-edge technology and less invasive procedures. Total joint replacement patients will receive a home visit and pre-surgical consultation so they can understand what to expect and document their progress.They will also be encouraged to designate a friend or family member as a “coach.”  The coach will be trained and educated at the same time as the patient to better understand what the patient needs to do to promote his or her recovery.

The First of Its Kind in the Region

The new Orthopedic Center brings together all of the services and technologies needed if you are facing an orthopedic-related challenge. Ten digitally integrated orthopedic operating rooms are available for inpatient and outpatient surgery. Surgeons will be able to access multiple pieces of your record, including x-rays, video arthroscopy images, lab reports and more, all from one single-touch screen. 

Because of the nature of many orthopedic surgeries, pain management is a major concern. To address this issue our surgeons and anesthesiologists have developed new methods for pain management that will make your experience much more comfortable.

If your surgery requires an overnight stay, the center features two inpatient nursing units with 42 private rooms–22 for general orthopedics and 20 for total joint replacement patient recovery. A physical medicine and rehabilitation gym is centrally located on the nursing unit. Occupational therapy services are provided in a home-like setting to help you get back to doing the things you enjoy.
