Methods of Giving to Lancaster General include Outright Gifts , which can be made in a variety of creative and tax-wise ways. For example, gifts of appreciated securities, tangible property or real estate are much like cash gifts and often produce an even greater benefit for donors through capital gains tax savings. Outright gifts of life insurance policies can also provide significant benefits for Lancaster General and our donors.
Planned Gifts include charitable gifts that are structured so that a donor can reserve an income interest in the gift for his life or a spouse or other designated beneficiary, and stipulate that the gift provide support for Lancaster General thereafter. This "deferred giving" allows a donor to make a gift, receive a current charitable income tax deduction and enjoy the income from the gift for life. There are also several other types of planned gifts.
