Women’s Expressions 2009
Women’s Expressions 2009, a fundraiser and “friend-raiser” for Lancaster General Women & Babies Hospital, kicks off Sunday, May 17 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. with a Community Open House & Art Opening at Lancaster General Women & Babies Hospital, 690 Good Dr., Lancaster.
The free reception will open a public exhibit of artwork by more than 50 professional women artists and female high school students representing public and private schools throughout Lancaster County. During the reception, artists will be available to interact with patrons, and refreshments will be served. The professional art exhibit is sponsored by Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children and the scholastic art exhibit is sponsored by Doctors May-Grant Associates.
The artwork, which includes paintings, sculpture, jewelry, pottery, textiles and photography, can be viewed by the public at Women & Babies Hospital from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through June 4. Student artwork will remain on display until June 14.
On Saturday June 6, the professional artwork will be sold during a silent auction as part of the “Passport to Paris” Gala and Silent Art Auction at Liberty Place beginning at 6:30 p.m. Those who cannot attend the gala but would like to participate in the auction can submit a bid by contacting Kate Mullen, Special Events Coordinator, at 544-5513 no later than June 1.
Passport to Paris will combine fine art, fabulous French food and entertainment. Attendees will enjoy musical performances by La Vie en Rose, a trio from Boston, MA and Cruise Control, a local dance band from Harrisburg. Reservations are required and are available by calling 544-5513.
Proceeds from Women’s Expressions 2009 activities will benefit programs at Women & Babies Hospital.
