At Lancaster General Hospital, we are all part of your caregiving team. Our goal is to provide you with quality medical care in a caring environment. We have skilled and experienced people in multiple medical disciplines. You can identify all members of the Lancaster General team by their identification badge.
Physicians
Your physician carefully directs your treatment at Lancaster General Hospital. Doctors often consult other doctors and members of the healthcare team to make sure that you get the necessary care, diagnostic tests and treatments. Like all members of the Lancaster General team, all physicians must also wear identification badges.
Residents & Medical Students
Resident physicians are physicians in training who provide patient care under the supervision of experienced physicians. As part of their training, they are assigned to rotations at Lancaster General Hospital. They work closely with active and courtesy staff physicians, nurses and allied health professionals to make sure your treatment is on course.
Students from the Lancaster General College of Nursing & Health Sciences and Lancaster Institute for Health Education also are involved in your care.
Nursing Staff
Nurses are an important part of your healthcare team. Your nursing team may include registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, patient care technicians, certified nursing assistants and student nurses. Unit secretaries provide assistance to the nursing staff. A nurse manager oversees all the nursing staff and patient care activities.
Case Management & Chaplains
Social workers and chaplains are here to help you and your family deal with personal, non-medical concerns that may arise while you are in the hospital. Chaplains are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If you will need home health care, social workers can help arrange for that type of care.
Allied Healthcare Professionals
Allied healthcare professionals include medical technologists, radiographers and nuclear medicine technicians. They specialize in using state-of-the-art medical equipment to perform diagnostic tests required for your care and treatment. Allied healthcare students from the Lancaster General College of Nursing & Health Sciences and Lancaster Institute for Health Education may also be involved in this aspect of your care.
Therapists
As part of your care, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, speech therapists, audiologists and occupational and recreational therapists may use modern techniques and equipment to detect, prevent and treat complications caused by illness or injury.
Nutritional Services
Eating right is important in your recovery. Our nutrition staff includes registered, licensed dietitians and dietetic technicians who can assess your nutrition status and may consult with your doctor to provide needed nutrition therapy.
Housekeeping Services
Our Housekeeping staff provides you with a clean, safe and pleasant environment. We aim to create and maintain an atmosphere that instills confidence and comfort for our patients, staff, visitors and volunteers.
Volunteers
Volunteers provide valuable services by directly interacting with patients and performing a variety of duties in supporting roles. All volunteers have a Lancaster General identification badge.
