Meals
At Lancaster General Hospital, you have choices. Each day you will receive a menu for the next day that allows you to select food items that you like. Circle your choices and keep the menu until it is picked up. Sometimes, we may change your menu if your choices conflict with your doctor's diet order. If you need help with choosing your meals, someone can assist you. If you would like information about your diet, please ask your nurse or doctor to request a visit by the dietitian.
Interpretation Services
The hospital offers person-to-person or telephone interpretation services in a variety of languages. This is provided for patients free of charge. Sign-language interpreters also are available for those who are deaf or hearing impaired. To arrange for one of these services, please ask your nurse to contact Interpretation Services.
Telephone
You can dial all local calls directly from your bedside telephone. Dial 9 + telephone number for local telephone calls. Except in the Intensive Care Units, relatives and friends can call you directly if you give them the telephone number on your bedside telephone.
If you move to a different room, be sure to give your callers the new telephone number. When calling a number within the hospital, you only need to dial the last four digits of the number.
If you are hearing impaired and would like a telecommunications device for the deaf (TDD), contact the Patient Representative Department at (717) 544-5050 (or 45050 from within the hospital).
