Lancaster General Annual Community Benefit Report

We are pleased to provide you with an electronic copy of Lancaster General's 2006 Community Benefit Report.

Each year, this report represents a thorough and faithful account of Lancaster General’s commitment to community health, the support of the many organizations that partner with us on critical health issues and our combined efforts to provide medical services for all people – particularly those who are most vulnerable.

Called Community Health Report in years past, it has been re-titled Community Benefit Report to reinforce what so many already know – that healthcare demonstrating true community benefit is, and always has been, of vital importance to Lancaster General and those we serve. As one of five imperatives of our strategic plan, community benefit has become more important than ever before.

Superior healthcare, of course, remains vital to our mission. Lancaster General has built a national and regional reputation for delivering outstanding operational and clinical results. In 2006, Solucient named Lancaster General Hospital one of America’s 100 Top Hospitals for the seventh time in nine years. Hospitals that receive this honor have a survival rate at least four times higher – with fewer patient complications and lower-cost services – than other hospitals. In addition, Maple Farm Nursing Center and VNA Community Care Services were among other members of our health system to receive state and national accreditations for meeting high-performance standards. We believe our community health efforts play a major role in our ability to achieve these nationally recognized results.

We are grateful to community leaders, our Boards of Trustees, employees, volunteers and partner organizations for sharing our passion, putting the needs of our community first, promoting high-quality programs and services that benefit all and making Lancaster County among the healthiest in the nation. Now, more than ever, Lancaster General is by your side.
